CivicLeicester would like to host a series of rolling, monthly online panel conversations focussing on the arts and forced migration.
The conversations would take place in the evening on Thursdays, between 6pm and 7.30pm (UK time), and would bring together artists, activists, academics and anyone working with, interested in or affected by issues around the arts and forced migration. If you would like to be part of or to take part in the conversations, please email civicleicester@gmail.com and let us know.
Examples of similar conversations we have hosted include:
- The Politics of Reggae: Anti-War and Peace Songs (2022),
- Poetry and Settled Status for All: Readings and Conversation (2021), and
- "Broken Chords Can Sing a Little": Panel discussion (2017), which were held as part of the annual Leicester Human Rights Arts and Film Festival.
The channel is unfunded and was set up after realising that, year in, year out, there were a lot of very significant activities and conversations taking place at a grassroots, community, national and international level that should be more visible but were not receiving any mainstream media coverage at all.
